MEMORANDUM

The Embassy is informed that Messrs. Hartmann

brothers, of 641 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, Members of the

Textile Alliance and regularly importing Australian

wool, have purchased some Six thousand (6,000) 1ight

dry hides from Messrs. W. G. Humphreys and Company, of

Hong Kong. The Company assure the Department of state

that this hide is positively for home consumption and

will not be re-exported, and they earnestly desire that

permission may be given them for the shipment of these

hides to the United States.

This matter is presented informally and unof-

ficially to liis Majesty's Foreign Office in the hope

that facilities may be granted to Messrs. Hartmann

Brothers to receive the hides they desire.
